What is Specialist Support Coordination?
Specialist Support Coordination is intended to support participants who are considered high risk or have a high level of behavioural or environmental complexities. This level of service must be specifically implemented in a participants NDIS plan after an assessment of support requirements has been conducted.
The overall goal of this Specialist support is for participants with complex support requirements to have access to qualified professionals with a deeper understanding of the challenges they face who can connect them with appropriate supports and to assist with capacity building and the implementation of a specialised framework designed to provide the best support possible.
What does this mean for you?
What this means is that you will be allocated to a Support Coordinator with a refined knowledge of complex conditions and the capacity to dedicate the extra time an attention you may need to best support you in achieving your goals. Your Specialist Support Coordinator will work collaboratively with you in setting up appropriate supports, whether these be NDIS service based, or mainstream supports such as your GP or health related services, Department of Housing or other relevant government branches, to ensure you feel secure and comfortable and will keep in regular contact with you to diligently manage your support needs.
